Perdoc Byzeusthians have concluded the 2018/19 season by claiming a record of their own, after winning their first ever SFP honour, in the form of the FFA Cup

In what turned out to be a rather tight affair between manager Baynes and Jermy Junior, Baynes Seniors Man City alliance proved too strong in the end and in particular the appearances of Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones late in the game.

Manager Baynes was delighted to finally add his first honour to the cabinet, and claimed more will follow:

”Finally! No stopping us now."

Rob-O-Klopp have been crowned SFP champions for 2018/19, as manager Dale completes his first domestic double and writes himself into the history books yet again.

Dale becomes only the third manager to claim a third title, and it is the first time anyone has defended an auction-based league since Butt Kickers in 1995/96. Not only that, but he did it by becoming the first manager to break the 1700 point mark with a record breaking 1744 season haul. It’s a whopping 92 more than his previous best with Jolly Rogers in 2015/16.

Manager Dale was obviously proud of his season achievements:

"It still feels amazing! Really wanted to retain the league title as it has been a while since it was last achieved. And to cap it off with the double was great. Both trophies achieved with minimal stress, unlike last year’s finale!"

"The league was in the bag with a couple of weeks to go - last year it wasn’t in the bag until hours after the final whistle! Nothing will ever match that finish."

"But back to level playing field now - hard work of auction prep begins! That’s where my season tends to be won and lost. If that goes well I’ll be confident of retaining the league. But I’m fully expecting a tougher challenge next season, feel even more of a marked man now - that’s going to make retaining it again tough. Time to think strategy!"

It should also not go unnoticed what runners up 1860 Munson achieved, as manager Pritchard found himself runner up after becoming only the 2nd manager in SFP history to break 1600. Manager Edwards also secured a PB season too and recorded the 5th best final score in history, finishing 3rd.

In fact, the records didn’t stop there. The top 5 all broke the 1500 mark, with Jermy Junior making it a class of 2002 top 4. Manager Peggs finished as the first ever manager to score over 1500 and finish outside of the top 4.

Nick Jermy last week ended a seven year wait for a trophy, as PSV Mongrels become the 10th Winner of the 5ASide Cup.

This weekend his side are aiming to finish off a cup double, as they take on Rob-O-Klopp in the SFP Cup Final. However, Dale himself is also focused firmly on producing a double of his own, with the league title virtually guaranteed.

Manager Jermy has made the final on two previous occasions, but failed to score a goal in both. He's hoping to put that right this weekend:

"I'm very proud to be in the final. I've had a bit of luck along the way, but then we need that, don't we. Rob is a fantastic manager who has absolutely set the benchmark of how to play fantasy football. So to be up against him, is a great opportunity to see what we can do. If we do eventually lose, there would be no disgrace in it being against a new era great (I also recently noticed that I still win £25!)."

"I remember our last trip to the SFP Cup Final, there wasn't a weekend all season where we hadn't scored…..until the final. So I'll be thinking of that, even though the thought of being up against Sterling, Mane, Fraser and Wilson is frightening. This doesn't discount the quality we have though, I'll be hoping for players like Redmond, Eriksen, Jimenez and Neves to step up to the plate this weekend."

Dale is also well practised in how to not win the Cup, having lost two of his previous 3 finals. But the fact that he's appeared in 4 out of a possible 7 proves he's a formidable opponent:

"We can’t wait for the tie to begin! Mood in the camp is understandably high despite our mediocre record in finals. We are wary of the Mongrels, who have become quite the cup team and will be buoyed by last week’s success. Hopefully the goals will continue to flow and we can complete the first leg of the double!"

His team brushed aside the 3 times winners Wheelers 29-15 to claim Jermy's 2nd win in the competition, and his 3rd SFP career honour. Manager Walters was quick to compliment the win:

"Big congrats to Nick! A very worthy winner! We will be back next year fighting hard as ever but just wasn’t meant to be for us this year! Well played PSV Mongrels! A great effort!"

Jermy Junior was equally complimentry in his response, but is already looking ahead to a potential cup double next weekend:

"Congratulations to Wheelers too for a well fought battle. An experienced champion of this cup, so will no doubt be back again this year. Might tag along to the back of the Norwich parade they'll be having on the streets with the 5's Trophy.

"Team can't rest though, got the hoooge task of battling it out with Rob-O-Klopp next week."

Rob caps another fine month with the MOTM award for April.
