At his sixth attempt, in the year 2000 Colin ‘Chubby’ Brown finally claimed his first SFP title.

By the summer of 1999 managers were now dispersed around the country, as sixth form turned into University, College or working lives. After the biggest SFP season of all time in 1998/99, with 18 teams and two divisions, the league was striped right back to just 8 teams for the seventh season. All 8 were current members of the Bungay Venture Scouts, the most regular place that these chaps could meet.

Billed as ’the champions league challenge’ it aimed to be the toughest competition to date, and the league didn’t disappoint with 3 of the most decorated managers at the time all finishing in the top three. Scoring was taken from the Telegraph for the very first time.

There was also an SFP Cup and Inter League Shield competition, the latter against a sister league headed up by Nick Jermy and 11 of his pals. Unfortunately records of the eventual winners have been lost, but evidence of some of the qualifying rounds have been discovered (see gallery below).
