After four seasons of dwindling interest in the National league game, the 17th SFP season would see a return to it’s roots.

Ten managers stepped forward to manage 9 teams, including 9 past managers (Nick and Martin joined forces) and 1 new face in Ed McNamara. One further newbie would join post-auction, in the form of Quentin Baynes. The auction itself was held on a Saturday morning over mid-morning breakfast at Weatherspoons, with the top signing being Aguero at £13.1m, signed by Adam Pritchard.

Eleven weeks in, it was Nick Jermy and Martin Edwards who topped the pile, and stayed there for the remaining 30 weeks. Along the way, they became only the second SFP team to top the ton in one week, scoring 103 over a double points week in February.

The result was a first SFP title in 18 years for one of the founding members, as Nick Jermy finally got his hands on the trophy. Martin Edwards played his part along the way, and shares the honour and his first SFP trophy. Jermy Junior was made up:

"So much has happened in my life since we joined the SFP 18 years ago. I've passed exams at school (and failed a couple too); I've bought a house; I've gotten engaged; I've canoed across half of Scotland; I've climbed the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.”

" But none of these peaks meet the heights of winning the SFP. As a team, we find it hard putting into words how flippin' chuffed we are. We all have to embrace this as much as we can, enjoy the moment. Who knows where we can from here, another championship perhaps? Why not?"

Jermy Jnr also paid tribute to his assistant Martin Edwards:

"When I first joined the SFP in 1994, Edwards was in my class at school. Back then he was teaching me how to make fart noises using my hands. All these years later, he's now teaching me how to win trophies. His scouting has been vital to get a basis set up for the club. Without his help, a championship would have been virtually impossible."

There was also a revitalised SFP Cup competition, which gave Nick and Martin the chance of a league and cup double. However, in a local derby final it was Matthew Jermy who claimed the honour with a 2:0 win.
