  • SEPTEMBER TRANSFERS

    SILLY SEPTEMBER IN FULL SWING
    01 September 2021

Now that the Premier League transfer window has closed, our new player auctions will be completed by 8pm Thursday.

The list of players is on the WhatsApp group and managers MUST request to be added to a player.

We will then open up the sealed bids for the first time on Friday at 8pm.

Results for this round will be published and 2nd bids will be required before 8pm Sunday.

That will give us time to have another round of sealed bids on the usual Wednesday before the league starts again the following weekend.

  • VAR-DY CHECK

    CHUGGERNAUT SHOCK AFTER V.A.R-DY CHECK
    28 July 2021

On the post-auction Sunday the auctioneer's data was loaded into the master computer, only to reveal that a manager had overspent.

Not only was it a significant £1.2m, but they had also purchased a premium forward with money they didn't have.

After 48 hours of SFP committee discussion about various proposals to right the wrong, it was decided the manager in question would face the following:

    * The affected player should remain with that squad
    * The team would instead face a 40 point deduction.
    * They must immediately return a player(s) at their cost value to wipe out their deficit.
    * They will be banned from taking part in any new player auctions, and transfers of any kind until 1st September.
    * The player in question would be cup-tied in the SFP Cup.

It was then revealed that the manager in question was FC Chuggernaut chief, Ed McNamara. The player in question was forward Jamie Vardy. As soon as he was notified, he issued the following statement:

"I have been made aware by the Chairman that at the auction one manger overspent his budget."

"Originally I assumed it wasn’t me as my tally added up correctly on the team sheet. Regrettably the mistake was made when recording the amounts I paid for Perez (1m)  and Bergwijn (0.2), or more likely when I rewrote my sheet where I recorded both as free. Which on a couple of other sheets have been verified."

"First of all I apologise unreservedly to you all. Realistically by that stage manager Jermy Snr. was worst affected, as with the money I assumed I had left I outbid him on Vardy, and for that I'm extremely sorry."

"I’m happy to accept all the penalties, player loss and deductions set out. Also I’ve suggested he remains cup tied through the season so as not to cause any other issues."

    "No appeals . Genuine error."

    Regards

    Ed

  • AUCTION 2021

Quickfire auction completed in record time.
    24 July 2021

Auction 27 will go down as potentionally the quickest in history, with 275 players auctioned off in under 5 hours - a rate of one every minute. The need for speed was a portion of the managers desire to watch the Lions V South Africa rugby later in the day, a decision that may come back to haunt some of them ...

Eleven managers met for breakfast first at the Town House on Thorpe Road in Norwich. Once the full english was despatched, the relevant awards were dished out to the previous seasons winners.

After breakfast, eleven became thirteen as manager Edwards joined the rest at the Fat Cat and Canary, also on Thorpe Road, and manager Lucchesi dialled in from South Korea. Crockford's Crackers were't available in person so delegated squad selection to manager Dale, completing the 14 strong quota of teams for the new season.

The auction began, and keeper Ederson again kicked things off at £8.1m, and would be the first of eight players to be re-signed by defending SFP Champions Cheese and Onion Biscuits United. The first five keepers all sold for over £5m, as the average paid out for a man between the sticks was up from last years £3.7 to £4.1m. The top three spenders were:

    8.1 – Ederson, Nick
    7.4 – Mendy, Rob
    6.4 – Alisson, Pritch

Defenders were up next, and again overall spending on defenders was also up on the previous year, with the average spend on defence up to £12.7m from £12.0m last year. Top defender was Robertson who, like Ederson, has signed for manager Jermy Jnr. for the 3rd season in a row:

    8.5 – Robertson, Nick
    8.4 - Alexander-Arnold, Rob
    6.8 – Dias, Q

With the rugby kick off looming, there was no time for a break this year, and it was straight on with the midfielders. It was the midfield area that saw the biggest drop in spending year on year, with managers spending £2.2m less than last season. The average spend this season was 17.1 compared to last years 19.3. The big 3 signings were:

    14.5 – Salah, Pete
    14.5 – Fernandes, Ross
    12.0 - De Bruyne, Ed

Finally, it was time for the ususal showpiece forwards finale. With a few more forwards than last season the average total spent on forwards was up £0.2m per manager on last year. England Captain Kane was the most expensive sale of the day with Walters splashing 16.9 on the Spurs man. Pritchard Jnr. saved 43% of his budget for forwards, spending 21.7 on his attack. Top buys were:

    16.9 – Kane, Walters
    11.1 – Watkins, Scott
    10.5 – Bamford, Scott

And with that, the auction was concluded in record time and in time for the rugby. But was it all as slick and straight forward as it seemed? The initial data load on the previous day suggested something didn't quite add up. To be confirmed ...
